Koyla Keeper

Koyla Keeper is Cree and Ojibway, from Peguis First Nation in Manitoba. Inspired by the inherent beauty of Native Culture, he expresses himself artistically through painting and dance.

His painted works are recognized by the red left handprint. This symbolizes a teaching in which the left hand places tobacco into the ceremonial fire, to be turned into smoke carrying our/your prayers to the creator and grandfathers and grandmothers of the four directions.

The red left hand print also serves as a reminder with each Keepers visions painting lies teachings of the past.

His works have been displayed throughout Canada, U.S.A., Europe and Japan
